Fertility rate
The number of children a woman would have at this year's birth rates.
The total fertility rate is the number of children a woman would have over her life if, at each age, she had children at the rates of that year. In countries where few children die young, about 2.1 children per woman keeps a population stable in the long run, without migration. The World Bank publishes it mainly from the UN Population Division's World Population Prospects.
