Renewable energy
The share of all final energy, not just electricity, that comes from renewable sources.
This is the share of a country's final energy consumption, the energy used in homes, transport, industry and services, that comes from renewable sources: hydro, wind, solar, geothermal and bioenergy, including traditional wood and charcoal. It differs from the electricity mix because most energy is used as fuel and heat, not as electricity. Poor countries often score high because they cook with wood. The International Energy Agency and the UN compile it for the UN's energy goal, and the World Bank republishes it.
